The Druid's Kitchen was founded in April 2018. Rachel - our founder, was struggling to find work after being diagnosed with several chronic illnesses, including SLE and Sjogren's Syndrome. She tried a few different ways to contribute to her living expenses and finally settled on The Druid's Kitchen. She was keen to be able to support herself, as well as leave a legacy for her son Terry to take over in the future.
Rachel spent several months developing her first eight soaps, perfecting them by making changes - both big and small - to the original recipes. Some were developed for Rachel herself and other were created with friends and families in mind.
Taking part in a few craft fairs, Rachel soon realised that her soaps we not only popular, but that people were telling her - and their friends - how they helped to improve the general condition of their skin, so she decided to create a website and put all of her efforts into making The Druid's Kitchen her full-time job.
About The Druid's Kitchen
Rachel prides herself on her ethics and her testing processes most of all. All of The Druid's Kitchen's products - including the pet products - are tested on her before anyone else. Rachel will test all of the products for an extended period of time before they are allowed to go out to additional product testers.
All of the ingredients used by The Druid's Kitchen are ethically sourced from small-scale suppliers as Rachel feels that supporting other small businesses is vital to local and national economy. Shopping small is how we ensure the survival of the high street and other small businesses and this is very important to her.
The majority of The Druid's Kitchen's packaging is either compostable or biodegradable, if it doesn't fall into either of these categories then it is fully recylable or can be repurposed and we are planning to introduce a packaging return scheme in 2020.
Even when Rachel has been ill, she has managed to keep the business going and now she is fully recovered, she is helping it to grow and looking forward to employing local people to help her to do this.
Rachel has lots of plans for the rest of 2019, which include new products and a completely natural range of bar soaps, lip scrubs and lip balms.
2020 holds so much potential that we recommend following us on our social media platforms to receive regular updates.
