Dog Shampoo Bar - Soothing

Doggy Shampoo Bars are a new product for The Druid's Kitchen and will be released as they are perfected. They combine herbs and essential oils with base oils to give your pampered pooch the ultimate grooming experience. The oils used are chosen for the specific purpose of the Doggy Shampoo Bar, this one is soothing so it contains olive oil and castor oil which are great for sensitive skin. There is also a touch of jojoba oil to help your dog to maintain its natural oils even with regular bathing.

The herbs used in the soothing Doggy Shampoo Bar are lavender and peppermint. These are infused in the aloe vera juice and strained so that the infusion is all that is added. This helps to prevent browning on the soap (small amounts of the herbs may be found in the soaps. We add a small amount of citronella essential oil to the recipe to help to prevent flea making your pooch their home.

Why hemp oil?

Hemp oil is added to help soothe any irritation or dry skin. Rachel discovered the amazing properties of hemp oil when she was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome and her skin became dry and she became susceptible to eczema and patches of psoriasis. Rachel makes her own body butter with hemp oil and it has improved her skin beyond recognition. It works in the same with the Doggy Shampoo Bars - if your dog has excessively dry skin, try leaving the soap on for a couple of minutes if they will allow you to. The high levels of glycerine are great for both your dog's skin and fur.

The Packaging:

Each bar of soap comes in an aluminium tin for easy storage and travel. It also means that there is no packaging that cannot be recycled. A refill may become available in the future, depending on whether I can find a suitable packaging, but the tin can be re-purposed or recycled with your regular household recycling waste.

How long it lasts:

Doggy Shampoo Bars will last an estimated 4 to 6 months for a medium dog bathed 1-2 times per week. Large dogs will get through a bar quicker and smaller dogs will get through it slower. I use this product on my dog Suki and I can safely say that I will never go back to liquid soap.
